Both the newbies eyes went wide in shock, the girl who looked so soft and angelic was actually famous for her illegal car racing.
"Guys, she is over exaggerating… please don’t mind her. I’m really happy to meet both of you…" Ahana said calmly, trying to ease the atmosphere and make them feel comfortable.
But both of them were too shocked to react, their expressions were frozen. Ahana felt a little awkward under their gaze and quickly added, "Umm… excuse me… I have to go out with Jessi for a minute…" She gave a polite smile, then grabbed Jessica’s wrist and pulled her away.
"What was I exaggerating? I was telling the truth." Jessica said crossing her arms followed by a small pout.
"Jessi… babe… you can’t act like this in front of newbies. Did you see their faces? They were staring at me like I was some kind of ghost after hearing you." Ahana sighed, hoping Jessica would have understood her words.
"Haha… but that was a good view though," Jessica replied with a chuckled.
"Stop it," Ahana muttered, shaking her head at Jessi’s playful behavior.
Jessica was the one who had first introduced Ahana to this club. She was the kind of person who always stayed positive and smiling. Even when Ahana had first joined the club, Jessica never treated her like an outsider or stranger. Her warm and lively personality had drawn Ahana closer, making her more attached to this passion.
"By the way, why? Why is Midnight Mafia suddenly challenging me? Why now?" Ahana asked with a little serious tone.
Jessica stopped laughing and fixed her gaze on her. "Actually, I’m not entirely sure what provoked them… but from what I’ve heard, they’ve developed a strong interest in you. You’ve already outclassed nearly everyone in this circuit. At first, they dismissed you simply because they didn’t know who you were. But now, after learning about your unrivaled performance, their intrigue has compelled them to challenge you."
Ahana nodded. Jessica’s words felt reassuring and she found herself quietly agreeing.
"Well… now let’s see what happens at the race. I’m quite a bit nervous too." Ahana confessed, taking a deep breath.
"Don’t be nervous. You’ve got this, baby..." Jessica said, pulling Ahana into a hug and patting her back, helping her mind settle.
"Hmm, ye dhoka… ye itna bada dhoka, main seh nahi paayi" a voice called from behind. It was Jaanvi.
(Hmm, this betrayal… this huge betrayal, I can't bear it)
She looked at her friends with a betrayed gaze, while Ahana and Jessica exchanged glances and burst out laughing. Jaanvi’s act was so convincing that if she weren’t their friend... both of them might have been fooled. They opened their arms, signaling their jaanu to come over. Grinning like a kid, Jaanvi ran towards them and the three of them shared a warm group hug.
On the other hand,
Five men entered the club, faces hidden behind masks and caps. Yet their aura screamed nothing but danger. Their bodyguards scattered around the place, clearing the way for their entry.
The moment they stepped in, chaos stirred. Some people rushed to the racing track already taking their places and waiting for them while others ran to them trying hard to take a sneak peek from behind the crowd.
"The Midnight Mafia’s are here!" a voice boomed through the speakers. And with that the whole place erupted. Cheers, whistles, and shouts echoed like thunder, the air charged with excitement and fear alike.
But the five of them did not care at all. They moved as if detached from the noise, as if the game itself was meaningless. Their motive was either the challenge… or perhaps something far beyond it.
Four of them walked straight toward the reserved VIP seats — the section strictly meant for team members of the racers, while the fifth one broke away and headed to the pit where his car waited.
The race was about to begin. Excitement hung heavy in the air, every breath charged with anticipation. The crowd thickened by the minute, more and more people pushing their way into the circuit, desperate to witness the clash that was about to unfold.
"Hello, ladies and gentlemen" Jessica's voice echoed, "we all know tonight’s race is going to be a historic moment! On one side we have Black Lily — who arrived not long ago yet claimed her throne in this racing house like a queen, undefeated till now.
And on the other side we have the Midnight Mafia’s — known for choosing only the strongest opponents for their challenges and surprisingly this very challenge came from the Mafia’s themselves… so now, I know you all are waiting for them to arrive so I won't waste anymore time and would like to call The Midnight Mafia's racer to the track.... Yaayyyy"
A deafening roar of cheers filled the air.
Then came the sound of an engine growling, low and powerful and with that a dark blue Lamborghini rolled onto the track, gleaming under the neon lights like the midnight sky itself.
"We cheer for Mafia's... We cheers for Mafia's..." Voices rose from the crowd followed by whistles and roars.
"Alright!" Jesica shouted again gaining everyone's attention, "Our Midnight Mafia’s are here! But now, it’s time for our lady — the pride and crown of the girls, the one and only Black Lily! And since I’m a girl, I welcome her with the loudest cheer ever! Yaaaayyyyyy"
The crowd exploded again, this time the shouts pierced higher, especially from the girls who worshipped Lily’s name and wore it like a badge of honor.
And then, a new roar thundered across the circuit. From the shadows emerged a red glossy Lamborghini, shining like fire under the lights.
"Our queen has arrived" the girls screamed from the crowd.
Jessica stepped in front of the racing track, standing confidently between the two cars, raising a gun in her hand.
"Rules are simple" she announced, "Whoever loses the race, he or she has to pay whatever the winner demands… and 2 lakhs extra to the club. Now, within the count of three, when I fire this gun into the sky, the race begins."
1…
2…
3…
Boom! Jessica fired.
And like a bolt of lightning, both cars shot forward, tires screeching, engines roaring, the clash of speed igniting the circuit into chaos.
Both the cars were competition with full agressiveness and power from the start. The blue Lamborghini was a little ahead but Ahana was nothing to be compared to.... she was smoothly taking it and coming in the same as him.
Ahana
"Come on… come on Lily, we can do this" I muttered under my breath gripping the steering wheel tighter. "Remember here you’re not that fragile girl… you’re Lily. A confident girl. Let’s go."
I slammed the clutch and shifted gears trying to overtake him but he wasn’t giving me an inch — no space, no mercy.
A smile tugged at my lips. Well, this is going to be interesting.
A sharp turn appeared ahead. I eased on the brake, feathered the accelerator, and drifted gracefully through the bend, taking the lead. My eyes were glued to the road, hands steady on the wheel, focus absolute.
I looked at him with the rearview mirror. Wow his turn was smooth as butter. No wonder they are Midnight Mafia's.
The S-bend is next… the trickiest part of the track. One wrong move, and it could be the end. My heartbeat raced, but I pushed fear aside. Not now. Not today. Earlier, my life didn’t matter… but now… there’s someone I want to come back to and immediately Aastik ji’s smile flashed in my mind, giving me courage.
I accelerated hard, one hand on the gear shift, the other steady on the wheel, threading through the next curves with precision.
Suddenly, a wall of tire barriers appeared in front of me.
“Shit!” I roared, yanking the steering wheel hard, swerving just in time to avoid a crash. My Lambo squealed against the asphalt, but in that split second, the Mafia’s car took advantage — he overtook me effortlessly.
I rolled down my window, letting a grin slide across my face. Somehow, he had underestimated me giving me just enough space to strike back. I turned my head toward his car and shot him a middle finger.
"Waise bhi, kaun pehchaan ne wala hai… mera muh to waise bhi dhaka hua hi hai" I muttered, rolling up my window again. Now, it was time for business. The infamous S-bend was just ahead.
(Anyway, who’s even going to recognize me… my face is already covered)
But My eyes widened as I saw him pull a bold move. The dark-blue Lamborghini swerved, facing mine briefly as if driving backward. Then with a screech, he snapped the car forward and shot ahead at top speed.
"No… damn it! No!" I shouted, gripping the wheel tighter than ever. The S-bend loomed ahead, sharp and merciless. I pressed the brake and clutch simultaneously, my hands were trembling but precise, my mind was firing faster than my heartbeat.
The S-bend was a beast — a series of sharp left-right turns, each one tighter than the last. One wrong move here, and it could be the end. My knuckles whitened on the steering wheel, every muscle in my body tensed.
I pushed the clutch, shifted down, and eased the Lambo into the first turn. The tires screeched, rubber kissing the asphalt as the car drifted gracefully, inches from the barriers. Sparks flew as the rims scraped slightly.
The Blue Lamborghini followed close, trying to squeeze past but I somehow blocked him with perfect timing, my focus razor-sharp. Come on… come on, Lily, don’t mess this up…
The second bend came faster than I expected. I counter-steered, feathering the accelerator, and felt the car respond like an extension of my own body. Tire smoke curled behind me.
His turn was way smoother than mine but I'm not someone who will get scared. I could hear the engine roar beside mine and feel every vibration through the steering.
The final hairpin approached — the sharpest, most toughest of all. I slammed the brake, downshifted two gears, and drifted wide hugging the curve with everything I had. The Mafia’s car screeched beside me, almost clipping my rear bumper.
But suddenly, in a burst of overconfidence, I pushed the accelerator too hard.
"No… fuck!" I screamed as the car fishtailed violently. My Lambo was sliding toward the barriers. My heart pounded in pure terror. No… please, I don’t want to die!
"Aastikkkkk jiiiiiii!" I cried, gripping the wheel as if my life depended on it.
But suddenly, the blue car appeared right beside me, moving with a calm precision that made space for me to adjust. Through the window, I could see him gesturing, almost like he was coaching.
"Steady the wheels. Focus on the movement of your legs" he commanded and at that moment I felt like I couldn't even hear his voice but his lips movement was readable.
I nodded, swallowing the panic and did exactly as he instructed. Somehow, I managed to steady the car.
"I have to thank him after the race" I whispered to myself "but that doesn't mean I'll let him win"
Now, the track straightened out. It was just a stretch of open road — a matter of raw speed. I slammed the accelerator, my precious roared as I pushed it to the limit. The dark-blue Lamborghini matched me, our engines growled as we gave each other a neck to neck competition.
Ahead, the red ribbon of the finish line glimmered, shimmering like a promise.
My focus was steady not even breaking from the ribbon but suddenly the blue car executed a move I couldn’t anticipate. His Lamborghini spun in a perfect almost impossible circle, regaining speed instantly, and shot forward like a predator.
Before I could react, he crossed the finish line first.
He won by just a few seconds.
I lessened my speed and pressed the brake. My car screeched and came to a halt.
"Wow… what a race! For the very first time, Black Lily has lost. Well, it surely broke a few hearts tonight but this competition—this clash will be remembered by all of us. Absolutely mind-blowing!" Jessi’s voice boomed through the speakers, and an eruption of cheers echoed all around the track.
But strangely, I wasn’t disappointed that I lost. Instead, a quiet warmth spread inside me. I was happy… happy that I got the chance to race against someone this skilled, this promising. This race, I knew... I’d never forget.
A smile curved on my lips as I stepped out of my car. My eyes searched for Jaanvi but she was nowhere to be seen… pata nahi kahan gayi.
The crowd had already circled his car, buzzing with excitement. I couldn’t deny it—he really did well.
I pushed through the crowd but got surprised seeing his bodyguards automatically making way for me.
The door of his car swung open and he stepped out with that commanding aura that pulled everyone’s attention.
I walked straight to him, extended my hand with a smile, and said "That was really a good match... And ya thank you for helping me that time... If it wasn't for you then maybe something might have happened to me"
But he didn’t react at all, nor did he forward his hand. I tried to pull mine back, forcing a small smile to hide the disappointment but before I could do so, his fingers wrapped firmly around my arm, yanking me towards him in one swift motion.
The sudden pull caught me off guard, my breath hitching as I stumbled a step closer. Surprise flared first but within seconds, anger simmered hot through my veins, 'how dare he touch me without my permission.'
"How dare—"
"Well played, sweetheart" a low, familiar whisper brushed against my ear, sending a chill down my spine.
My heart froze,
caught between recognition and disbelief.
'WHAT?'
